As announced at VMworld Europe in October, extending our hybrid cloud solution to organisations across Europe is an extremely important part of our strategy. True hybrid has the power to completely transform the IT landscape, enabling businesses to seamlessly scale the consumption rather than construction of IT as they grow. We’re now delighted to announce that as of today VMware vCloud Air is now available to customers in Germany and Europe from our Frankfurt-based data centre. The continued expansion of vCloud Air in Europe is an important milestone in the global build out of our hybrid cloud service, bringing major benefits to our customers through fast and easy access to the public cloud while reducing operating costs.
Many organisations across the continent are unable to take full advantage of the public cloud due to local and EU-level security and compliance regulations stating certain types of data has to stay within local borders. However, with an increased geographical footprint with the new German datacentre, complemented by the vCloud Air Network, VMware’s hybrid cloud services is now accessible to more organisations across Europe and globally – all who can access the public cloud quickly, easily and securely.
Providing organisations with a true hybrid cloud is especially important as a recent IDC study released by VMware revealed that 65% of IT decision makers in Germany consider a hybrid cloud environment will be critical to help their organisation achieve its goals and compete effectively in 2020. This is because the hybrid cloud creates an environment where workloads can be seamlessly moved, using exactly the same tools IT teams are already familiar with. This makes IT more responsive to businesses requests through the ability to instantly provision new infrastructure to cope with new projects, set up virtual servers to handle a new system across departments such as HR and marketing and more.
