Tackling the mysteries of hybrid cloud – Hangout with Richard Munro

Hybrid cloud has been one of this year’s hot topics and will remain at the top of the CIO priority list, which is not surprising considering the many benefits it can offer. As our CEO Pat Gelsinger said at VMworld, it’s not about OR but about the power of AND. Organisations shouldn’t have to choose between traditional apps or cloud native apps, IT or developers, on-premise or off premise, safe, secure, compliant or instant, elastic, self-service. Hybrid cloud should enable the seamless transfer of workloads between public clouds AND on-premise environments with the click of a mouse, giving complete freedom, security and control.

But, with all the talk surrounding hybrid cloud, it can be hard to separate myth from reality. This leads to the question of what a ‘true’ hybrid cloud is, a crucial issue when it comes to achieving the real benefits of a hybrid cloud environment. On top of that, though the benefits of hybrid are widely known, making a business case for hybrid cloud services is a different matter entirely.

To get to the bottom of this, join Richard Munro, Chief Technologist and Technical Director for vCloud Air, EMEA, at VMware, on November 25th at 2.30pm GMT for a Google Hangout. Richard will be joined by customers who will provide first-hand insights into their hybrid cloud experiences and the benefits they’ve seen from using VMware’s hybrid cloud solution, vCloud Air.

Also taking part in the discussion is virtualization blogger and vExpert Ed Grigson, who will talk about his experiences with the hybrid cloud.

You’ll be able to watch the Hangout live on the 25th by clicking on the video below. If you’ve got a burning question on hybrid cloud you’d like to see asked during the Hangout, let us know in the comments below.

After the Hangout we’ll be posting the recording on our YouTube channel, as well as a shorter highlights video here on the blog. Make sure to keep an eye out on Twitter @VMware_UK for updates, and use #vCloudAir to join in the conversation.
