If you’re in Bulgaria over the next few weeks you may notice VMware CEO Pat Gelsinger’s face in the media quite a bit. It’s been a really busy couple of months since the announcement of his new role, but he was in Sofia to visit the local VMware offices, talk to the Bulgarian press and also meet with the Bulgarian president just hours after his first VMworld Europe speaker appearance as VMware CEO.
VMware Bulgaria is the largest R&D site in the EMEA region. It focuses on VMware’s future technologies in the Cloud Management and Automation space, and in fact many of its engineers played a part in developing the management solutions announced on Tuesday at VMworld Europe 2012. Some of the best software developers, quality engineers, technical writers and product managers work for VMware’s team in Sofia and Pat’s visit allowed him to meet them for himself and highlight the great work they’re doing.
It’s always motivating to hear from the top of the business, and get some real insights on the vision and direction of the company. The team in Sofia really enjoyed hearing Pat talk with the same passion that electrified the 8,000 strong crowd at VMworld Europe.
He said “The EMEA region is a major part of our business, and as the new CEO it’s important that I get out and meet the people who are helping drive us forward. The team in Bulgaria has been a critical part in the development of our newest solutions, and it’s been really beneficial and worthwhile to meet some of the people who helped make that happen.”
