This week we launched our new Cloud Management solutions, and the Bulgarian team is playing a crucial role in this development.
“This is a great week for VMware and Bulgaria – all VMware Bulgaria employees can be really proud of what they have achieved”, said Pat Gelsinger, CEO VMware. Pat Gelsinger visited the R&D facility in Sofia just after VMworld Europe and congratulated the local team of engineers on their contribution to the company’s next wave of innovations.
Commenting during his visit to the region, Pat Gelsinger also said: “Just walking around the site in Sofia gives me a sense of excitement. This team in Bulgaria is going to play a crucial role in helping to redefine what’s possible in the Software-Defined era. We’re continuing to make investments like this here because this region has the skills and expertise to help customers and partners understand how the new Software-Defined approach is opening up new possibilities from the enterprise to the data center, and from a unified user environment to the hybrid cloud.”
We have announced the expansion of our Research & Development facility in Sofia, adding a new 6,000 square meter office space allowing the organisation to gradually expand from 480 employees at present, to almost 1,000 over the next few years. In addition, we announced the creation of a new Professional Services Center of Excellence, with plans to have almost 150 employees in place there by the end of 2015. This center is a first of its kind for us, and is aimed at addressing the customer and partner needs across EMEA, and will transform VMware Bulgaria from an R&D facility to a multi-functional hub.
Speaking in front of 200 students of the Technical University of Sofia , the largest educational and scientific complex in Bulgaria, Pat Gelsinger laid out his view of IT in 2020: the Impact of the Cloud. In an increasingly dynamic and liquid world exponential growth will touch every aspect of tech industry. However, the full impact of the cloud is yet to be realised, making this an exciting time for technologists, researchers, teachers and students.
