Meeting regulatory requirements and cutting costs

The regulatory environment surrounding business in general and the cost of maintaining compliance to what is a continuously moving target is weighing more and more heavily on most organisations. IT ends up treading a clichéd fine line between managing the expectations of the workforce and the business, versus the daily realities of cost, compliance and security. Technology can offer pathways through this minefield, with good solutions being flexible enough to adapt to variable organisational requirements and giving IT a measure of peaceful sleep every night.

VMware offers its Workspace Suite, incorporating Horizon 6 Enterprise Edition, VMware Workspace Portal and AirWatch enterprise mobility management. It blends the application, device and data management elements into one centralised identity management and policy enforcement platform so that workers can be empowered to work efficiently anywhere and at any time, with simplified workflows and IT management. A seamless, single sign-on access mechanism means that access to internal web apps and secure device enrolment processes become easy and secure rather than stressful and complex.

From a compliance perspective, VMware Workspace Portal allows admins to design management policies that ensure simple access with common-sense, automated enforcement based on the sensitivity of the application in combination with a diverse range of contexts including device type, user, application and location.  This high level management flexibility ensures that compliance with differing regulatory requirements can be achieved within current business infrastructures.

The AirWatch Secure Content Locker solution included with VMware Workspace Suite has content publishing and data collaboration functionality that make it easy to securely access files from any device, and its self-service console is published within VMware Workspace Portal. Users gain enterprise mobility with secure file sharing and collaboration, access to secure and approved apps, and all from within a single, secure, device-independent  workspace that not only gives them the freedom to work in the way they are demanding, but also gives IT a much higher degree of control over corporate resources.  Employees can work on or off any private or public network, on any device, and there is the added bonus of one-touch identity management. This gives employees access to apps, virtualised desktops, SaaS applications and so on, with safe file sharing and no need for concerns around potential data loss.

The VMware Workspace Suite allows you to leverage all forms of apps – mobile, Windows and SaaS – and other resources and services to drive engagement between employees, the business and their customers. VMware does this within strict regulatory requirements and using solutions that can radically reduce security threats and management costs. VMware Workspace Suite is designed to be a platform that can handle nearly any type of application today but with the flexibility to be able to accommodate future technologies as they emerge. This makes it a future-proof investment for the business rather than a tactical short term fix.  VMware Workspace Suite hands IT a toolbox for end-user computing transformation which is intuitive, future-proof, robust and flexible.
