Everything you need to know about vSAN 6.6

We are excited to discuss the latest and sixth generation of VMware vSAN, version 6.6. This release extends our position as the HCI leader, where we are helping customers modernize their infrastructure faster and with less disruption.

What’s New?

VMware vSAN has been innovating at a rapid pace. With each new release, we’ve delivered greater value to our customers through new features that have propelled adoption by mainstream customers for any workload, any application.

More than 7,000 customers have chosen to entrust their most important workloads to vSAN! This momentum has not waned as vSAN recently won 3 industry awards for being the Product of the Year in this space!

This is a feature-packed release with advanced enterprise features that address three key customer needs: security, cost savings and performance.

Why vSAN 6.6?

vSAN 6.6 is focused on delivering a cheaper, faster and more secure HCI solution and it offers customers three key benefits:

  • Enhanced security – flexible, low-cost native hyper-converged infrastructure security. vSAN Encryption allows customers to encrypt data-at-rest with a hardware-agnostic solution that can run on any vSAN storage device with simplified management.
  • Lower total cost of ownership – vSAN 6.6 reduces the stress on IT budgets by lowering the total cost of ownership by up to 50%. New capabilities help reduce management tasks by up to 80% with intelligent installation checks, 1-click hardware lifecycle management, and advanced cloud-based analytics
  • Ensured business continuity – New enhanced stretched clusters ensure business continuity with both site and local protection. If one site goes down, a second can carry on completely uninterrupted while maintaining a second layer of protection against local node or drive failures.
  • Up to 50% greater all-flash performance – Customers can scale to tomorrow with increased performance in vSAN 6.6 and next-generation hardware, helping customers deploying even more workloads.

How is vSAN helping our customers?
