Q&A with Ian Jansen van Rensburg – Why attend vForum 2014

The countdown to VMware vForum Johannesburg 2014 is on! Have you secured your slot? If you need any more convincing, we chatted to our senior systems engineering manager, for Southern Africa, at VMware, Ian Jansen van Rensburg about why he thinks you need to be there.

Q: In your view Ian, why do you think VMware customers should attend the event?

A: With today’s fast moving pace of IT, you need to keep up to date with all of the recent advancements in technology. Today VMware is providing customers with new ways to deliver and consume technology. This is done through innovation, thought leadership and new technology sets, right from the end user device through to the datacentre. At vForum VMware will share its ideas and innovations in the area s of virtualization, mobility, cloud and end user computing. Remember … “You don’t know, what you don’t know”

Q: What are you personally looking forward to as a highlight at the event?

A: There will be separate sessions by the NSX networking team, focusing on our software-defined networking strategy. This will give our customers a clear view of the direction we are taking this technology as well as how it will assist them in achieving a software-defined business model into the future.

Q: If there was one session you would urge your customers to attend which one would it be?

A: I would have to say the introduction to Airwatch session. If you are accessing business critical applications and data from your personal device, you need to understand what Airwatch has to offer. Its going to blow our customers away.

Q: What are you hoping your customers will take away from the event

A: An event like vForum should hopefully not share information in a linear and single direction – it should be an environment where ideas are shared and people network with their peers. It is with this that I would ideally also like to hear about some of the challenges our customers and partners are facing and how they are planning to connect todays new “mobile toys” to business critical applications.

That’s Ian’s views in a nutshell. Don’t forget to register your spot at vForum 2014 – its free and its geared to give you all the tools you need to Amplify the Possibilities in your business! Register at https://bitly.com/1k3kjUa or visit http://bit.ly/Rkv7WQ for more information.
